Always Remembered, Forever Loved

In Loving Memory of

Wallace Butts

November 2, 1958 – November 28, 2024

Wallace Butts was born on November 2, 1958, at John Wesley Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was the second son of Reverend U.L. Butts and Mrs. Maebell Butts, who often spoke with warmth and humor about the joy, energy, and passion he brought into the world from the very beginning.

From an early age, Wallace developed a deep love for music and entertainment. At the early age of 13, he began piano lessons, which sparked a lifelong connection to the arts. He attended Henry Clay Junior High School, graduated from Washington High School, and later pursued a degree in Child Development at Los Angeles City College.

Wallace’s gospel roots ran deep. He played, sang, and directed the choir at Warren Chapel C.M.E. Church, where his father was the pastor. and where his love for performance truly flourished. This foundation propelled him into the broader world of entertainment. He explored acting, worked as an extra in film and television, and danced on Soul Train—a moment that marked the beginning of a creative journey spanning decades. Wallace ventured into fashion design, tour management, and ultimately became the personal tour manager for Grammy-winning artist Jody Watley. His work took him around the globe, allowing him to build meaningful and lasting friendships along the way.

A man of many passions, Wallace was also a martial arts enthusiast who earned a brown belt in karate. He was known for his quick wit, his (sometimes questionable) but always unforgettable humor, and his ability to light up a room with laughter. His vibrant spirit and eclectic talents made him truly one of a kind.

Although he celebrated his 66th birthday in the hospital, Wallace wore his signature smile. Though his body grew weak, his spirit remained strong and unyielding. In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 12:01 a.m., Wallace peacefully transitioned from this life, reuniting with his beloved parents in eternal rest.

Wallace Butts leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and unforgettable moments. He will be deeply missed, joyfully remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him.
